A CD entitled "The Conscience" comprising six documentary films aimed at reflecting
the root causes of the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka and its development from the
time of independence to now was released in the spring of 2009
2008
"Call of the Conscience" Human Rights Art Exhibition of the Ethnic Conflict in Sri
Lanka was presented at Roy Thomson Hall on August 23,2008.
2007
"TollyVision" TV show on Channel 12 Durham. Cinema discussions were held every Saturday
9.00 - 9.30 a.m.
2006
Red Winter
Synopsis
On a freezing winter night, three young men are killed, one after the other, in
a matter of hours. The film takes you through a suspense-filled chilling journey
as it unfolds.
Motive for Production
Breaking away from the general trend of traditional Tamil films, a more Western,
"Hollywood" approach was adopted in this film. Screened in Canada and in Europe
for Tamil and non-Tamil audiences, this film won a number of awards in Canadian
and European film festivals. Red Winter won high praise for its technical excellence.
This movie established us as creative/unique filmmakers in the Canadian scene.
Film Premiere Celebration
The premiere Gala of Red Winter was held in Thorn Leaf auditorium on October 11,
2006. The premiere celebration commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil
lamp, followed by the welcome speech delivered by prominent real estate agent and
program producer of Tamil Oasis Radio Mr. Param G. Gnaneswaran. Radio artist and
announcer Mr. Selvakumar moderated the evening programs. The video presentation
of the history of Canadian Tamil films was the cynosure of all segments of this
celebration. It was presented by political analyst and owner of Veedu Mr. Sam Sivathasan.
Another significant aspect of the function was recognizing the Tamil artists for
their lifetime achievements. Senior artists K.S. Balachandran and Mrs. Suppuletchumy
Kasiaanandan were honoured with awards that night. These awards were given away
by the former Director of Tamil service, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Mr. P.
Vigneswaran. The evening ended with the screening of Red Winter and it was highly commended by
the audience for its tremendous advancement in Tamil filmmaking.
2004
Kaadhal Niagara
Synopsis
A story of a young man who is torn between love and his prior life with his furtive
wife.
Motive for Production
This is the first Canadian Tamil feature film, produced especially for the viewing
of Canadian and European Tamil audiences. It created a wave of interest in the Canadian
Tamil film circle, and was also a driving force to a new generation of Canadian
Tamil filmmakers, to introduce them to the field of filmmaking. The soundtrack of
Kaadhal Niagara has been widely enjoyed by Tamil moviegoers around the world. Selections
from the soundtrack have also been broadcast countless times in various radio stations,
in response to listener demand. Kaadhal Niagara also takes credit as the first Canadian
Tamil film to incorporate the South Indian movie industry's leading playback singers.
The auspicious Pooja Vizaa for the film
The Pooja Vizaa for Kaadhal Niagara was held in Madi Gress Hall on February 14,
2004. Artists, film fans, business tycoons and many others graced this occasion. It grandly
commenced with holy blessings from Hindu Kurukkal and ended with a sumptuous lunch.
The real estate agent Ken Kiruba moderated the function. Sri Murugan and P.Vigneswaran
also Shared their views and opinions on the film. The function was also used as
the location of scene # 18 of Kaadhal Niagara.
2003
Soundtrack Release Gala The musical compositions for all five songs in the soundtrack
were composed by Kaphileshwar, and the lyrics were written by Brin Nath, Kaphileswar,
Mathiventhan and Maran. The sound track of Kaadhal Niagara features some of South
India's leading vocalists such as Anuradha Sriram, Unnikrishnan, Swarnalatha, Kaphileshwar
and Karthik.
The soundtrack release gala was held in Midland College Hall on October 11, 2003.
The master of the ceremony was Mr.Ken Kiruba, prominent real estate agent. The gala
began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, followed by the cultural dance
performance of Nirothini Pararajasingham. The managing director of Canadian Tamil
Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Ilayabarathy released the first copy of the soundtrack.
Eminent businessman and socialite Mr.Vairamunthu Sornalingam received the first
copy. On behalf of Tollywood Canada, our Chief Guest presented Kaphileshwar with
the "Mellisaip Puyal" (Storm of Light Music) award. The cast and crew of Kaadhal
Angele were also presented with awards by Thamilan Valikatti Senthi Selliah, K.S.
Balachandiran and Kalakalppu Theesan. The live music by "Agni" kept the packed auditorium intoxicated with their amazing
musical cocktail.

Kaadhal Angele

Synopsis
An emotional examination of the life of two Tamil Canadian adolescents.
Motive for Production
It was an attempt to expose us as filmmakers in Canada. With the telecasting of
Kaadhal Angele via leading Television channels in Europe, Australia and Asia, we
are proud to have reached our wide range of Tamil audiences around the world. Kaadhal
Angele that was screened in many film festivals has won several awards.
2001
Two Music Videos were released on the Community Channel.
